The NFL was at its tense, exciting and nail-biting best as many games across the country were won by the smallest margins and with them came a few surprises.
After an explosive and record-breaking opening week, the NFL rolled round again for Week 2 of the 2011 season. This weekend was more of the expected, not so many shocks or surprises, but Tom Brady yet again stole the headlines alongside the dependable Matt Ryan and the stupidly exciting prospect of Cam Newton.
Four years ago, Michael Dwayne Vick stood in front of a jury and pleaded guilty to his involvement in a dog fighting ring. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison disgracing the face of the NFL.
Now, he has just secured a $100 million extension to his contract, is fresh from an MVP-style season and seems to be better than ever before. This weekend, the comeback hero returns to Atlanta to face the team who made him who he is. So the dust has settled on the opening week of the 2011 NFL Season, not short of surprises, comebacks, rookie excellence and the 9/11 anniversary respected by all 32 teams. I will look back on the two best matches from Week 1, a round up of the other results and then the stars & losers who donned the helmets again for the new season.
So finally, the 2011 NFL Season is about to begin, however the build up has been far from plain sailing.
Immediately after the dust had settled in Arlington, Texas, attention swiftly moved from an exciting Superbowl, to the worrying chance that the following season would not even take place. |
