The NFL came across the pond to British shores this week as London staged its 5th game at Wembley as a part of the NFL's International Series. 

With rumours of a possible new franchise emerging from the capital, it was yet another chance for the NFL and UK american football officials to show how successful it could be.

In America, the New Orleans Saints thrashed the Indianapolis Colts, the Minnesota Vikings gave the Green Bay Packers a huge scare and it was the Tim Tebow show in Miami on 'Gator Day'. But my highlight game for this week is certainly the UK's NFL showpiece event. 

The NFL is quickly approaching the half way mark and Week 6 was yet another action packed weekend from around the country. The highlight of the week came from Ford Field, Detroit, as one of the most exciting games of the season finished with controversy as the two coaches almost came to blows in an intense and charged atmosphere. 

However, they weren't the only coaches in the headlines as one was forced to sit on the bench with a broken kneecap. The other main stories of the week was the fact that the Superbowl champions Green Bay Packers brushed aside yet another opponent and look destined to be a back-to-back winner already. And also the return of the underachievers as both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets got their season back on tracks. But more from them later on.

As the 2011 NFL season is over 5 weeks old, I'm now going to take a look at the Top 5 players who have stood out for me in the first month or so.

This year so far is proving to be one of the best for a long time and I dont expect the excitement and drama to die down anytime soon. Its been a record breaking season for records broken, and thats only added to the intense entertainment seen across the United States each weekend.

So without further ado, here are my Top 5 players from the first 5 Weeks in the 2011 NFL season:

It was an exciting yet emotional week in the NFL as many paid homage to the death of the Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis.

Honoured with a minute's silence before the early games kicked off, the Raiders general manager passed away at his Oakland home, aged 82, the day before his beloved Raiders faced the Texans, but they would go on to put in a performance that would of made their late owner proud. 

Meanwhile, in the NFC North, both the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers remained unbeaten highlighting their force in the race for play off positions.

The first month of the NFL is over, and now only two teams hold an unbeaten record who funnily enough are part of the same division - the NFC North.

Those two teams are the defending Superbowl winners the Green Bay Packers and the surprise outfit this season the Detroit Lions. The Lions of who were not expected to be as strong this season are the early front runners and they continued this week with a stunning comeback victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Four years ago, Michael Dwayne Vick stood in front of a jury and pleaded guilty to his involvement in a dog fighting ring. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison disgracing the face of the NFL.

Now, he has just secured a $100 million extension to his contract, is fresh from an MVP-style season and seems to be better than ever before. This weekend, the comeback hero returns to Atlanta to face the team who made him who he is.

So finally, the 2011 NFL Season is about to begin, however the build up has been far from plain sailing.

Immediately after the dust had settled in Arlington, Texas, attention swiftly moved from an exciting Superbowl, to the worrying chance that the following season would not even take place.
